Playing video games = variable ratio, which is a type of scheduled reinforcement for an unpredictable number of responses. People become addicted to games because of the unpredictable number of positive reinforcements. Gamers are all just pigeon’s pecking at levers (aka game control buttons) waiting for some kind of pleasure to come.
